Chrissy Ruane was born and raised in Atlantic City, NJ. She was raised with her four siblings under the loving care of her parents Mary and Jim Ruane.

Chrissy married Joe Rush, an Atlantic City firefighter, on January 8, 1994. On May 8, 1996 she gave birth to her first daughter, Katie. In the fall of 1997 she happily found out she was expecting her second child. When the baby's ultrasound was being performed, an unexpected cyst on one of her ovaries was detected. After a delayed operation and a biopsy, it was determined that Chrissy had ovarian cancer.

Termination of the pregnancy was suggested but never given a second thought by Chrissy. That was an unacceptable solution. She waited for the baby to develop to a certain point before she began chemotherapy. The pregnancy was able to come to full term and Erin Mary Rush was born on May 21, 1998.

Chrissy went into a small remission but in March 1999 it was determined that Chrissy's cancer was back. For the next few months, Chrissy carried on with her life not allowing the cancer to slow her down very much. She lived life to the fullest and radiated love to her family, friends, and everyone she came in contact with.

Sadly, Chrissy died on May 28, 2000.
